FORT LEE, NJ — A missing elderly person was found stuck on a steep cliff after an hours-long search on March 26, 2026.
The Fort Lee Police Department requested assistance from the Maywood Police Department K-9 Unit after the person had been missing for nearly eight hours.
K-9 Sgt. Chris Nichols and K-9 Phoenyx, a 3-year-old scent-discriminating bloodhound, responded to the scene.
Using an article of clothing, Phoenyx tracked the individual for over an hour and a half, covering approximately 2.5 miles.
The trail led officers to a steep and dangerous cliff area, where a cry for help was heard.
Officers located the missing person stuck on the cliff in need of medical assistance.
