Correction officer arrested on drug charges in Auburn

AUBURN, NY — A correction officer at Cayuga Correctional Facility was arrested after a narcotics detection canine alerted to drugs on his person when he reported for duty.

Gregory S. Gorman, 30, of Moravia, was taken into custody following a joint investigation by New York State Police and the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations.

On the morning of March 27, 2026, OSI conducted a staff screening when Gorman reported for duty at approximately 6:54 a.m.

A search conducted by OSI investigators revealed Gorman was in possession of cocaine with an aggregate weight of approximately 28.2 grams and heroin packaged in approximately 50 paper sleeves with an aggregate weight of approximately 10.3 grams.

A consent search of Gorman’s vehicle revealed an additional quantity of cocaine, approximately 0.4 grams.

Gorman was turned over to State Police and transported to SP Auburn for processing.

He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree, three counts of promoting prison contraband 1st degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th degree, official misconduct and promoting prison contraband 2nd degree.

Gorman was transported to the Cayuga County Jail, where he is being held pending centralized arraignment.
