LOWELL, MA — A man died following a shooting at an apartment complex on Pawtucket Boulevard on Monday afternoon.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office confirmed the fatal shooting occurred just before 4 p.m.
The preliminary investigation suggests a brief altercation occurred between two men who were familiar with each other from the building.
During the altercation, both men were in possession of apparent firearms.
One of the men suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
The other man remained on scene.
Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Lowell Police are conducting the investigation.
