Teen stabbed in Hackensack

HACKENSACK, NJ — A 16-year-old was stabbed Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Central Avenue and Union Street, authorities said.

The Hackensack Police Department responded to a report of an injured person at the intersection of Banta Place and State Street at approximately 3 p.m.

Responding officers discovered the stabbing victim and learned that the suspects had fled the scene prior to their arrival.

The victim was transported by ambulance to HMH Hackensack University Medical Center in stable condition.

Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and initiated a joint investigation with the Hackensack Police Department.

Members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was approached at the intersection of Central Avenue and Union Street by several suspects who fled immediately after the stabbing.
