Woman charged with endangering welfare of child in Fort Covington

FORT COVINGTON, NY — New York State Police charged a teacher with Endangering the Welfare of a Child on March 18, 2026.

Karrie L. Haverstock, 60, of Brushton, was arrested following an investigation into an incident at Salmon River Central School.

State Police were notified of the incident on Nov. 21, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m.

Investigators determined that Haverstock, a teacher at the school, allegedly mistreated a student on or around May 16, 2025.

The case was presented to the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office, which reviewed the investigation and authorized the charge.

Haverstock was processed at State Police barracks in Malone and released on an appearance ticket.

She is scheduled to appear in Fort Covington Town Court at a later date in March.
