Man arrested on assault charge in Bath

BATH, NY — A homeless man was arrested on an outstanding warrant stemming from an assault that left a woman with a head laceration.

Members of the Village of Bath Police Department were dispatched to an assault at a residence on West Steuben Street at approximately 12:29 a.m. on Feb. 28, 2026.

The suspect was identified as Jackie Fisher, 52, homeless in Bath.

Through investigation, it was determined that Fisher had struck a female in the head causing a laceration to her left eyebrow.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Fisher had fled the scene prior to police arrival and a warrant for his arrest was requested and issued.

On March 3, 2026, at approximately 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a physical fight in progress in the area of Tops on West Morris Street.

Upon arrival, parties were separated.

Jackie Fisher was identified as being involved in the fight and was taken into custody on his active warrant.

Fisher was processed and charged with one count of assault in the third degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Fisher was transported to the Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment.

Fisher was released on his own recognizance.
