WILKINSBURG, PA — A Homestead man wanted for failing to appear in court on a gun charge was arrested Friday at an apartment building.
Damien Higginbotham, 36, of Homestead, had been a fugitive for 45 days after a bench warrant was issued when he failed to show for a pre-trial conference on Dec. 15.
The conference was related to gun and evading arrest charges filed by the Allegheny County Police Department.
Detectives from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office developed information this week that Higginbotham was inside an apartment building along Hill Avenue.
Detectives arrived at the residence shortly before noon Friday and knocked on the door.
A male voice was heard inside, and a female subsequently opened the door and allowed detectives to enter.
Detectives conducted a search of the apartment and common spaces in the building and found Higginbotham in the basement.
He was arrested without incident and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
