HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Mays Landing man died early Saturday after his vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees on Route 40.
William Bussey 3rd, 41, was traveling eastbound on Route 40 near Strand Avenue when he lost control of his 2015 Cadillac XTS at approximately 12:37 a.m., according to the Township of Hamilton Police Department.
The vehicle left the roadway via the westbound shoulder and struck a series of trees before coming to rest.
Bussey sustained traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Route 40 was shut down for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated.
Also assisting on scene were the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics, Mays Landing Fire Department, Richland Fire Department, Laureldale Fire Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office.
