HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA — A contractor turned himself in to police after allegedly taking a deposit for roofing work and failing to complete the job.
Phillip E. Yeatts, 47, of Pennsylvania, voluntarily surrendered to Lower Moreland Township Police on Feb. 27, 2026.
Police said a victim reported the incident on Oct. 31, stating they had hired Yeatts in August to repair their home’s roof.
The contractor quoted the job and required a deposit of half the quoted price, according to police.
The victim issued a check payable to Yeatts Roofing LLC, which was cashed on Aug. 21.
Police said the contractor failed to start the project as agreed and eventually stopped communicating with the victim.
The victim demanded the return of the deposit, but the contractor did not comply, according to police.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Yeatts.
While in custody, police discovered Yeatts had an outstanding warrant in another state related to similar behavior.
Yeatts faces charges including false statement to induce agreement for home improvement services, receiving advance payment for services and failing to perform, theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and arrest prior to requisition.
