SOUTH RIVER, NJ — A months-long investigation into alleged unlicensed dental procedures resulted in the arrest of an Old Bridge woman Thursday.

Ana Amato, 49, was arrested Feb. 19 following the execution of a Superior Court authorized search warrant at 30 Main Street, Suite 7.

Amato was charged with unlawful practice of dentistry, aggravated assault and financial facilitation of criminal activity.

The investigation began in September when Sgt. Peter Roselli and Officer Peter Szukics responded to police headquarters for a dispute between two individuals.

During the investigation, the officers uncovered information suggesting dental procedures may have been performed by an individual not properly licensed.

The case was assigned to Detective Patrick Molina, who worked over the ensuing months to gather evidence.

Through the investigation, police determined Amato was allegedly practicing dentistry without being licensed or authorized to do so.

Detective Sgt. Kenneth Nale and Detective Travis Taylor assisted throughout the investigation.

Multiple items were seized as evidence during the search warrant execution.

Chief Mark Tinitigan praised the responding officers for their thoroughness.

“What began as a routine dispute call demonstrated exactly why thorough police work matters,” Tinitigan said.

The case remains active and ongoing.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Det. Molina at 732-254-9002 ext. 113.
