BATH, NY — A man was arrested on charges of criminal contempt and witness tampering after allegedly violating an order of protection.
Members of the Village of Bath Police Department were dispatched to a residence on West Steuben Street on Feb. 20, 2026, at approximately 10:57 a.m. for a report of a possible order of protection violation.
Through investigation, it was determined that the suspect, Damian C. Vanvleck, 36, of Bath, had recently been granted pre-trial release from Steuben County Jail in relation to an ongoing criminal case in which he is facing felony robbery charges.
It was reported that Vanvleck had made contact with the victim, in violation of a full stay away order of protection, and attempted to influence the victim to recant their testimony against him.
On Feb. 25, 2026, at approximately 2:43 p.m., Vanvleck was located on Liberty Street and taken into custody without incident.
Vanvleck is charged with one count of criminal contempt in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and one count of tampering with a witness in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
Vanvleck was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment where he remains held with the opportunity for bail.
