PENN YAN, NY — A Virginia man was arrested on an outstanding warrant Thursday evening following a traffic stop.
Alexei V. Plavan, 68, of Sterling, Virginia, was taken into custody at 8:40 p.m. on Linden Street after Penn Yan Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle he was operating.
During the stop, police learned Plavan had an active arrest warrant issued by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
The warrant stems from a motor vehicle accident in 2024 that occurred in the Town of Jerusalem.
Plavan faces charges of reckless driving, operate vehicle without registration/suspended, moved from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable and prudent, and failed to stop at stop sign.
He was processed and held at the Yates County Jail until the next centralized arraignment part.
