Man arrested on multiple charges in Penn Yan

PENN YAN, NY — A 38-year-old Staten Island man was arrested on multiple charges including criminal contempt and child endangerment following a domestic incident.

Mitchell A. Pringle faces charges of Criminal Contempt 1st, Criminal Contempt 2nd, Petit Larceny, two counts of Criminal Mischief 4th and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Penn Yan Police initially responded to a 911 call at a local hotel for an ongoing domestic incident.

The parties had left the area in a vehicle before officers arrived.

Officers called the victim, who answered and kept the line open.

Police determined the victim and her children were unable to exit the vehicle and no longer wished to be with the suspect.

Officers identified the vehicle entering the city of Elmira.

When the vehicle stopped for gas, the victim fled and Elmira Police stopped the suspect.

Officers discovered the victim and two children were protected parties of an order of protection against Pringle.

Elmira Police took Pringle into custody and transported him to the Penn Yan Police Department.

Pringle was found to have an outstanding warrant from Massachusetts after being indicted for Cocaine Trafficking.

Pringle was arraigned in Yates County CAP Court and held without bail due to having two prior felony convictions.

He was also held as a fugitive from justice to await an extradition hearing on the Massachusetts warrant.

Pringle will reappear in Yates County Superior Court at a later date.
