House fire extinguished in South Plainfield

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — Firefighters battled a heavy house fire at the corner of Clinton Avenue and South 10th Street late Thursday night.

The South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 10:49 p.m.

Chief Campbell arrived and established command.

A second alarm was transmitted due to heavy fire at the front of the house.

Engine 5 arrived on scene and stretched a 2 1/2-inch attack line to knock down the heavy fire.

Truck 7 arrived and set up the aerial to the roof for ventilation.

Plainfield Firefighters FMBA Local 7 Engine 3 arrived and stretched a 1 3/4-inch attack line into the structure.

New Market Fire Department Engine was assigned to the Rapid Intervention Team.

Colonia Volunteer Fire Department provided manpower along with additional manpower from South Plainfield members.

North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company, Metuchen Fire Company engines and Middlesex Boro Fire Department ladder provided coverage during the fire.
