FORT EDWARD, NY — Two people were arrested on felony grand larceny charges following a joint investigation into fraudulent SNAP benefits, according to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy.
Chad R. Niles, 33, of Salem, and Nichole E. Niles, 34, of Salem, were charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony.
The investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Social Services determined the pair received $1,512 in overpayment of SNAP benefits between April 1, 2022, and May 30, 2022.
The overpayment was due to unreported household income, according to authorities.
Both were released on appearance tickets to appear in Fort Edward Town Court at a later date.
