CARLSTADT, NJ — Police arrested a man Tuesday after he became disorderly at a dollar store and allegedly assaulted an officer.
Officers responded to the Dollar Tree on Paterson Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. Jan. 9 after reports of a disturbance.
Jamil Taylor, 42, of Carlstadt, became disorderly inside the store and fled into the parking lot, police said.
During the investigation, Taylor made threatening statements and abruptly moved toward a mother and child in the area, according to police.
Officers intervened and placed him under arrest.
While being taken into custody, Taylor resisted and struck an officer with his elbow, police said.
He was subsequently subdued without further incident.
Taylor was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.
He was treated for minor injuries and transported to the Bergen County Jail.
No civilians were injured.
The officer involved declined medical treatment.
