HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA — Police arrested a man Saturday after responding to a report of a suspicious person inside a business complex on the 2600 block of Philmont Avenue.

The caller reported a motion activation from the property’s security camera, which showed a subject covering the camera.

The caller said they could still hear strange noises, including what sounded like an electrical saw.

Upon arrival, police observed a silver Chevrolet Suburban parked in the rear of the complex and a subject exiting the complex from a rear door.

The subject ran back inside after being given verbal commands.

Additional officers arrived, and the subject was taken into custody after exiting the complex.

The male suspect, identified as Gary R. Christ, 56, of Pennsylvania, was found to be in possession of stolen property.

An investigation revealed evidence of an attempted theft, including a cut and removed copper sewage pipe, power tools, and damaged walls and ceiling tiles inside the property.

The building has been deemed uninhabitable by the Lower Moreland Township Code Enforcement due to the damage caused.

Christ was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking and defiant trespasser.
