SOUTH RIVER, NJ — A South River man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a computer repair shop last month.
Fernando Ramosgarcia, 30, of South River, was taken into custody during the early morning hours of Thursday following the execution of a Superior Court authorized search warrant at a residence on Burton Avenue.
The arrest stems from a Jan. 2 robbery at ML Computer Repair, located at 34 Main Street.
Two masked suspects entered the business at approximately 6:46 p.m. that day, according to police.
One suspect was armed with an apparent handgun, while the other carried pepper spray.
The suspects threatened an employee and sprayed him in the face with pepper spray before fleeing with cash and miscellaneous items belonging to the victim and the business.
Detective Sergeant Kenneth Nale led the investigation, reviewing numerous local surveillance videos that tracked the suspects’ movements before and after the robbery.
Nale coordinated with the Sayreville Police Department, which was investigating a similar robbery within their jurisdiction.
Detective Patrick Molina and Detective Travis Taylor assisted in the investigation.
Members of the South River Police Department and the Middlesex County Special Operations Response Team executed the search warrant.
Ramosgarcia was charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon with unlawful purpose and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
The second suspect remains at large and unidentified.
