AMBLER, PA — A head-on collision left one person dead and another seriously injured Saturday night on Horsham Road.

Officers responded to the crash in the 1200 block of Horsham Road, near the intersection with Limekiln Pike, at approximately 8 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler engulfed in flames and a black Cadillac Escalade overturned on the side of the roadway.

A third vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was also involved in the crash and remained at the scene.

Preliminary investigation and eyewitness accounts indicate the Escalade was traveling westbound on Horsham Road recklessly.

The Escalade attempted to pass the Camry, which was also traveling westbound ahead of it.

In an effort to overtake the Camry, the Escalade entered the eastbound lanes and drove against oncoming traffic, ultimately striking the Jeep Wrangler head-on.

The driver of the Escalade was found unresponsive, not breathing and heavily entrapped inside the overturned vehicle.

Officers confirmed there were no other occupants in the vehicle but could not free the driver due to the extent of the vehicle’s damage.

The driver was mechanically extricated by the Horsham Fire Company and pronounced deceased at the scene by Medical Command.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was able to exit the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames.

The Jeep driver sustained multiple serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver and passenger of the Camry were not injured in the crash.

Alcoholic beverages were found in and around the Escalade.

Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of impaired driving being a contributing factor in the crash.

Investigators await toxicology results pending an autopsy by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
