TANNERSVILLE, PA — A man faces assault charges following a fight at a Wawa on Jan. 26.
Nelson Hidalgo, 45, of Tannersville, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
An officer with the Pocono Township Police Department responded to the Wawa at approximately 2:20 p.m. for a report of a physical fight near the air pumps.
Police made contact with the victim, a 24-year-old man from Tobyhanna, who was suffering from a bloody lip and several red and swollen areas on his face.
The victim told police a man he knew only as “Nelson” had been arguing with him over the use of the air pump.
After a verbal altercation, the suspect punched the victim in the face, knocked him to the ground and continued to hit him in the face several times until others pulled him off, according to police.
The victim was treated at a medical facility for head trauma and a concussion.
Police used video footage to identify the suspect as Hidalgo.
