BENSALEM, PA — A high-speed crash at the Street Road and Interstate 95 interchange early Tuesday left one person dead and four others injured, including two in critical condition.

Bensalem Township Police, along with fire and EMS personnel, responded to the scene at approximately 12:00 a.m. for a report of a three-vehicle crash involving a vehicle fire with occupants trapped inside.

Officers found a silver 2013 Chevrolet Sonic fully engulfed in flames.

The driver had been ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two additional occupants of the Chevrolet were removed from the burning vehicle and transported by Bensalem EMS to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where they are listed in critical condition.

The drivers of a 2017 Dodge Journey and a 2015 Honda Accord, which were also involved in the crash, were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the vehicle fire.

Preliminary investigation indicates the Chevrolet Sonic was traveling eastbound on Street Road at a high rate of speed as it approached the I-95 interchange.

The vehicle failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the northbound I-95 ramp intersection and struck the Dodge Journey that was exiting I-95 northbound and making a left turn onto westbound Street Road on a green signal.

As a result of the impact, the Chevrolet went airborne, crossed the center median, and struck the Honda Accord that was stopped in the left lane of westbound Street Road.

The Chevrolet came to rest in the roadway and subsequently caught fire.

The entire incident was captured on Bensalem Township Police intersection cameras.

The deceased driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as Timur Khabelov, 44, of Brooklyn, New York.

The passengers in the Chevrolet were identified as Farruh Homidov, 43, and Askar Narziev, 39, both of Brooklyn.

The crash remains under investigation.

The involvement of drugs or alcohol has not been ruled out and is pending autopsy and toxicology results.
