CARVER, MA — Two people were rescued Sunday after their vehicle became stuck on an unmaintained winter road in Myles Standish State Forest.

Massachusetts Environmental Police were notified at approximately 2:40 p.m. that a motor vehicle was stranded on the road.

One of the occupants had recently undergone a medical procedure.

Weather conditions and snow depth prevented the two people from walking out on their own.

A commercial tow company initially attempted to reach the vehicle using a four-wheel drive tow truck and a plow truck, but the snow was too deep.

Environmental Police officers on scene contacted the Carver Fire Department and Plymouth Fire Department for assistance.

A coordinated effort utilizing the Carver Fire Department’s tracked vehicle, a Plymouth Fire Department four-wheel drive vehicle, two Good Samaritans on snowmobiles and one Environmental Police F150 cruiser allowed first responders to access the stranded vehicle.

The two occupants were safely extricated and evaluated by Plymouth EMS.

The vehicle was left on scene for removal by the tow company.
