Fugitive arrested after police pursuit in Barnet

BARNET, VT — A Groton woman is facing multiple charges after a police pursuit involving a stolen truck ended on Interstate 91 in Barnet on Friday afternoon.

Vermont State Police said the incident began at about 12:40 p.m., when troopers were notified that New Hampshire law enforcement was in pursuit of a stolen 2026 GMC truck on Interstate 93 heading toward Vermont.

During the pursuit in New Hampshire, the fleeing suspect struck police vehicles, leading to a collision that disabled two New Hampshire State Police cruisers and a Littleton Police Department cruiser.

The officers involved suffered minor injuries.

Another Littleton police officer continued the pursuit into Vermont.

The suspect crossed into Vermont on I-93 in Waterford, then exited onto I-91 southbound.

Vermont State Police troopers deployed spike strips in Barnet, disabling the stolen vehicle near Exit 18.

The vehicle left the roadway a short time later.

Troopers arrested the driver, identified as Marisa Levesque, 43, of Groton.

Levesque was charged with being a fugitive from justice, grossly negligent operation of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude a police officer, and aggravated operation without owner’s consent.

A judge ordered Levesque held for lack of $10,000 bail.

Her arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in St. Johnsbury.

Vermont State Police said further information would be provided in an updated news release.
