BATH, NY — A man who gave police a false name has been identified as a Maryland fugitive wanted on an armed robbery warrant.

Amari Jameel Lee, 26, of Maryland, initially identified himself to Bath Village Police as “Jason Pierce,” age 21, according to authorities.

Police launched an investigation on Jan. 25, 2026, to verify the man’s identity after arresting him on other charges in recent days.

The investigation revealed Lee’s true identity and that he was wanted on a full extradition warrant for armed robbery with a firearm out of Maryland.

Lee has been incarcerated in Steuben County Jail since Jan. 24, 2026, on the prior charges.

Police said Lee provided the false identity to avoid apprehension on the outstanding warrant.

Investigators determined Lee has been on the run since November 2025, avoiding apprehension across multiple states by providing false identities.

Police believe Lee was passing through Bath in an attempt to reach the Canadian border.

Lee remains incarcerated in Steuben County Jail, facing local charges and awaiting extradition to Maryland.
