LEWISTOWN, PA — Police are charging a man with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief after a disturbance at a bank on East Market Street on Jan. 16, 2026.
Andrew S. Kensinger, 42, of Derry Township, entered the bank at 10:07 a.m. to check on an account that had been inactive for two years, according to police.
The account had a negative balance due to fees relating to inactive accounts.
Kensinger became irate and was shouting obscenities, police said.
He began slamming a door multiple times as he left, causing damage to the walls.
At 11:18 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of South Wayne Street at the request of Crisis.
Officers had contact with an individual having an ongoing mental health crisis.
A 302 involuntary commitment order was served on the subject, who was transported to the hospital by officers without incident for a mental health assessment.
On Jan. 17 at 2:44 a.m., officers responded to Sheetz at 113 North Juniata Street for a complaint that a vehicle was double parked in front of the store.
Officers located Austin J. Scheffel, 33, of Lewistown, who was the operator of the running vehicle.
Scheffel appeared highly impaired and showed several indicators of impairment when conducting field sobriety tests, police said.
Scheffel was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence.
During a search incident to arrest, officers located syringes and methamphetamine in his jacket pockets.
A sample of blood was obtained at the hospital.
Charges are pending toxicology results.
At 10:42 a.m., officers received a theft complaint from the 100 block of North Brown Street.
A resident reported that Bryawna N. Wagner, 19, of Lewistown, came over to their residence the night prior.
When Wagner left, the resident noticed their $1,200 iPhone cell phone which had been charging on a cable was missing.
An application was used to locate the phone at Wagner’s mother’s house on West Third Street.
The resident and a relative made contact with Wagner, who messaged that the phone would be outside.
The resident was able to retrieve the phone.
The resident reported that a similar incident occurred the week prior involving Wagner.
Wagner was charged with theft by unlawful taking.
On Jan. 18 at 2 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Pannebaker Avenue to assist EMS.
A resident called for help regarding an extremely intoxicated male who fell and struck their head.
The caller requested the subject be medically evaluated at the hospital.
Officers had contact with the male, who urinated himself and was arguing with EMS.
Officers tried to reason with the subject to no avail.
Emergency personnel discussed sedating the male and he said he would punch anyone who touched him.
The male was briefly restrained by officers and sedated by medical staff.
He was then transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
On Jan. 19 at 11:29 a.m., officers offered to assist the Mifflin County Regional Police Department with a reportable crash on U.S. 322 in Reedsville.
Officers responded to a dumptruck that rolled over and crossed into the oncoming westbound lane.
Police assisted obtaining witness statements from those who were present.
At 4:14 p.m., officers assisted the Mifflin County Regional Police Department in Derry Township with a male who was reporting that subjects were trying to break into his residence with baseball bats.
The caller has a history of drug abuse and mental health issues and was recently involved in a standoff.
It was reported that the male was armed with a sword and had been consuming alcohol.
Officers and a mental health co-responder communicated with the subject, who ultimately refused any services.
At 9:27 p.m., officers followed a vehicle on West Fourth Street that was repeatedly crossing the lane dividers and driving in a manner that suggested the driver was impaired.
Officers stopped the vehicle at the former Red’s Diner parking lot.
A female in the back seat provided a false name and appeared to be hiding an object between her legs and made furtive movements when she thought the officer
