Man in crisis taken into custody in Keyport

KEYPORT, NJ — A man in crisis was taken into custody early Friday without incident after a four-hour standoff with police.

The Monmouth County Emergency Response Team and Rapid Deployment Force were activated Thursday at approximately 8:02 p.m. for a call involving a person in crisis in the vicinity of Church Street.

Law enforcement officers safely secured the subject into custody at approximately 12:15 a.m. Friday.

Police said the incident was isolated and there was no threat to the public.
