Man arrested in thefts from vehicles in Guilderland

GUILDERLAND, NY — A Guilderland man has been arrested in connection with multiple vehicle break-ins in a residential neighborhood.

The Guilderland Police Department received a report of car break-ins in the area of Morgan Court at approximately 3:02 a.m. on Jan. 10, 2026.

A resident reported that an individual had attempted to gain entry into a vehicle parked in the resident’s driveway.

Officers responded to the area and made contact with the suspect, who was located in his vehicle on Jean Place.

Upon further investigation and with cooperation from the suspect, identified as Cory R. Shearing, police determined that he had entered numerous unlocked vehicles in the area and stolen various items.

Shearing, 26, of Guilderland, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree.

He was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court on Jan. 22, 2026, and was released on his own recognizance.
