SOUTHINGTON, CT — An 83-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after the all-terrain vehicle he was operating rolled over.
The Southington Police Department, along with the Southington Fire Department and AMR, responded to the area of 154 Mandel Drive at approximately 2:48 p.m. for a report of an unresponsive male near an overturned ATV.
Responding officers were directed by a witness to the rear of a nearby property on Flanders Street.
Officers located an adult male who was unresponsive next to an overturned ATV.
Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, and the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Andrew Connolly, 83, of Southington.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Connolly had been operating an ATV equipped with a snowplow attachment when the vehicle traveled off a retaining wall approximately eight feet in height along a driveway, causing the ATV to roll over.
The Southington Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team was activated and responded to the scene to assume control of the investigation.
The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact Officer Jacob Badgley at the Southington Police Department at (860) 621-0101 or via email at [email protected].
