Man cited for violating conditions of release in Brownington

BROWNINGTON, VT — Vermont State Police cited a man after he allegedly violated court-ordered conditions of release by operating an unregistered vehicle.

David Powers, 46, of Brownington, was taken into custody Jan. 19, 2026.

Police received a report at approximately 11:46 a.m. of a male passed out in an unregistered vehicle on Hunt Hill Road.

Troopers learned the vehicle’s owner was Powers, who had active court-ordered conditions of release prohibiting him from operating an unregistered motor vehicle on a public highway.

Troopers later located the vehicle and Powers at a residence on Schoolhouse Road in Brownington.

Through investigation, troopers determined Powers had operated his unregistered vehicle on a public highway.

After impairment screening, Powers was taken into custody.

He was released with a citation to appear in Orleans County Criminal Court on March 10, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
