HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by two vehicles at the intersection of Route 40 and Cantillon Boulevard on Thursday.
The Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to the crash at approximately 7:38 p.m.
Michael Alvarez, 44, of Egg Harbor Township, was attempting to cross Route 40 when he was struck by a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Jocelyn Valencia, 48, of Vineland, who was traveling westbound.
Following the initial collision, Alvarez was struck by a 2015 Ford Fusion operated by Tauheedah Hadi, 45, of Mays Landing, who was traveling eastbound on Route 40.
Alvarez suffered fatal injuries from the crash.
No additional injuries were reported, and both drivers remained on scene.
The roadway was shut down for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated.
Also assisting on scene were the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics, Mays Landing Fire Department, the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
