BARTON, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a local man on suspicion of driving under the influence after responding to a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning.
Police responded to a report of a crash on Elm Street at approximately 1:20 a.m.
Upon arrival, troopers found damage to a utility pole and a mailbox, but no vehicle or operator was at the scene.
Police later located the operator at his residence and identified him as Bruce Stone, 45, of Barton.
Stone showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
Stone was operating a 2020 Ford F150 that sustained significant front end damage.
Stone was not wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.
Road conditions were snowy at the time of the crash, and weather was clear.
