Three injured in crash at intersection in Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, NY — Three people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries Tuesday morning following a three-car accident at the intersection of Smithfield Boulevard and Pyramid Drive, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene at 11:06 a.m. after a report of a motor vehicle accident with possible personal injury.

Investigators said Gail Wilfore, 88, of Plattsburgh, was driving on Smithfield Boulevard when she entered the intersection, disregarding the traffic light.

Wilfore’s vehicle struck a car being driven by Lloyd Dumars, 73, of Peru, who was accompanied by Ruth Dumars, 73, also of Peru.

After the initial collision, Wilfore’s vehicle veered off the roadway, striking a sign and a third vehicle.

Wilfore and both Dumars were evaluated at the scene and then transported to UVM-CVPH with complaints of minor pain.

Wilfore was ticketed for disregarding a traffic signal.
