FORT ANN, NY — Two teenagers were arrested after a police pursuit ended in a crash on State Route 149 on Dec. 20.
State Police, with assistance from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old following the incident that began at about 11:17 p.m.
Troopers attempted to stop a vehicle on State Route 4 in Fort Ann when the driver failed to comply and a pursuit was initiated.
Police said the vehicle operated recklessly, turned off its headlights to avoid detection, and exceeded the posted speed limit by more than double.
The pursuit was terminated due to public safety concerns near the Warren County Line on State Route 149.
Troopers later found the Warren County Sheriff’s Office on scene with the vehicle, which had crashed in the area of Bay Road.
Deputies had the 18-year-old driver in custody after he fled from the crash on foot.
The 17-year-old passenger was also located at the scene.
An investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from Rochester earlier that evening.
The 17-year-old was arrested for criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree.
The 18-year-old was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, driving while intoxicated, and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
Both individuals were taken to SP Queensbury for processing.
The 18-year-old driver recorded a 0.12% blood alcohol content.
The 17-year-old was released to a guardian with an appearance ticket.
The 18-year-old was arraigned and released under the supervision of the Warren County Probation Department.
