STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Police have recovered the body of a 19-year-old man who had been missing since late November.
The man was reported missing following an incident at the Manahawkin Bridge on Nov. 25.
The New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau located the body using sonar equipment on the evening of Dec. 17 in waters near the Manahawkin Bridge.
The West Tuckerton Fire Department Dive Team recovered the body approximately 200 meters north of the bridge.
Family members have been notified.
The body was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where an autopsy will be conducted.
The incident remains under investigation.
The Stafford Township Police Department was assisted by the New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau, West Tuckerton Fire Department, Stafford Township Fire and EMS, and other regional emergency response partners.
