Two-vehicle crash on Burpee Road in Bristol

BRISTOL, VT — Troopers from the New Haven Barracks responded to a two-vehicle crash on Burpee Road near Vermont Route 17 on Dec. 13 at approximately 12:40 p.m.

Upon arrival, troopers identified the operator of vehicle No. 1 as Benjamin Fitzgerald, 40, of Colchester, and the operator of vehicle No. 2 as Craig Dumas, 71, of Bristol.

The investigation showed that vehicle No. 2, a 2021 Ram 1500, was slowing to make a left turn into a driveway.

Vehicle No. 1, a 2000 Ford F-350, did not stop in time before striking vehicle No. 2.

Both operators were wearing seat belts.

Vehicle No. 1 sustained front end damage, and vehicle No. 2 sustained rear end damage.

Neither operator was injured, and no one was transported to a hospital.

Weather conditions were clear, and road conditions were dry.

Fitzgerald was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for operating without liability insurance.
