LEDYARD, NY — A 36-year-old woman was arrested on drunken driving charges after allegedly hiding from deputies following a motor vehicle accident, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Chelsea C. Gauthier, of Aurelius, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, and other traffic infractions.
Deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the town at approximately 4:21 a.m. on Nov. 19.
Deputies located the vehicle unoccupied, and a search of the immediate area yielded negative results for the operator.
At approximately 7:35 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a location in the surrounding area for a report of a female needing help after being in an accident a few hours prior.
Deputies confirmed the female was the operator of the vehicle involved in the earlier accident and had intentionally hidden from them while they were on scene.
Gauthier was determined to be intoxicated by alcohol and arrested at 8:38 a.m.
She was transported to the Public Safety Building where she was processed, issued uniform traffic tickets, and released.
Gauthier is scheduled to appear in Town of Ledyard court on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.
