STATEN ISLAND, NY — A Brooklyn man was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle on Nov. 27.
Elijah Page, 34, of Brooklyn, faces charges of aggravated DWI with a child, a class E felony, endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and DWI with a blood alcohol content of more than .08 percent, a misdemeanor, as well as other vehicle and traffic law violations.
A trooper from Troop NYC, SP Staten Island, conducted a traffic stop near Exit 3 on westbound Interstate 278 after observing a gray 2021 Honda sedan speeding and following too close to another vehicle.
Following a roadside investigation, the trooper determined Page was intoxicated and a 2-year-old child was in the backseat.
The child was unharmed and released to a family member.
Page was taken into custody and transported to the NYPD 120 Precinct for sobriety testing, where he was found to be over the legal limit for alcohol.
He was processed and remanded to Staten Island Central Booking to be arraigned at a later date.
Troop NYC has made seven drunk or impaired driving arrests since Thanksgiving.
