Man arrested on arson charge in Lyons

LYONS, NY — New York State Police have arrested a 56-year-old man in connection with a fire at a vacant residence on Geneva Street.

Douglas J. Lanning II, of Manchester, was charged with third-degree arson, a felony, after an investigation into a Nov. 17 fire at 65 Geneva St.

Wayne County 911 received a report of a structure fire at approximately 5:03 p.m. that day.

The residence was vacant and had been previously condemned by the town.

A State Police fire investigator determined the fire originated with no accidental ignition sources present.

Lanning was identified as the suspect on Nov. 23 and was taken into custody without incident.

He was processed at the State Police barracks in Lyons and transported to Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment.
