SOUTHINGTON, CT — Police arrested three juveniles in two separate stolen vehicle investigations in November.

On Nov. 14 around 7:30 p.m., detectives and officers located a black 2024 BMW X6 parked in the Southington High School parking lot during a football game.

Officers detained several people near the vehicle, which was determined to be stolen from Orange in late October.

A 16-year-old from Hamden was found in possession of the vehicle’s key fob and was arrested.

The juvenile was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and first-degree larceny, scheduled to appear at New Haven Juvenile Court on Nov. 17, and released to a legal guardian.

On Nov. 17 around 3:41 a.m., police received multiple calls about people attempting to enter vehicles on Flanders Road.

Officers observed two suspicious vehicles traveling together, including a silver Hyundai Sonata with no registration plates.

The Sonata’s driver, wearing a black ski mask, turned off the vehicle’s lights and drove recklessly in an apparent attempt to elude officers.

Police deployed pursuit prevention devices, disabling the vehicle, which was found abandoned nearby and confirmed stolen from Hartford.

Officers established a perimeter and conducted a K9 track.

A ride share vehicle was stopped in the area with two juvenile passengers attempting to leave.

Clothing worn by the juveniles matched home security footage of vehicle burglary activity.

A 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, both from Hartford, were arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Both were charged with theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree larceny, first-degree criminal trover, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and interfering with an officer.

The 15-year-old also faces charges of reckless driving, operating without a license and failure to have headlamps illuminated.

Both juveniles were scheduled to appear at Hartford Juvenile Court on Nov. 18 and released to legal guardians.

The investigation continues regarding additional vehicle break-ins and a second suspicious vehicle.
