JAMESTOWN, NY — An 18-year-old student was arrested on school grounds after police say he displayed a firearm at a family member during a domestic dispute days earlier.
Kyier R. Johnson, of Jamestown, was taken into custody Nov. 12 outside Jamestown High School by the school resource officer and principal.
Police had responded to the Jamestown Police Department around 11 p.m. Nov. 6 for a report of a past domestic incident.
The investigation determined Johnson entered a family member’s home where he was not permitted and engaged in a verbal altercation with the homeowner.
A second female victim arrived to pick up her child, and Johnson allegedly displayed a firearm, menacing her while in close proximity to the child.
Both victims left and reported the incident, leading to arrest warrants being issued for burglary in the second degree, menacing in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
Johnson was arrested at approximately 11:12 a.m. Nov. 12 on the active warrants.
A search revealed a CO₂-powered BB gun pistol in his possession.
He was additionally charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds.
Johnson was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and later remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail following arraignment.
