JAMESTOWN, NY — A woman was arrested on shoplifting charges at a local supermarket on Nov. 10.
Officers responded to Tops Markets at 2000 Washington St. at around 5:50 p.m. for a report of shoplifting in progress.
Police determined that Donna J. Torres damaged store merchandise to remove it from its original container to conceal the merchandise on her person.
Officers also found that Torres was attempting to conceal additional merchandise in an attempt to avoid paying for the items.
Torres was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
She was charged with attempted petit larceny and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
Torres is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
