MEDINA, NY — A driver faces multiple charges following a four-vehicle collision at the intersection of Center Street and Main Street on Nov. 7.

The Medina Police Department, along with Medina Fire and EMS, were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:35 p.m.

While EMS personnel were evaluating those involved in the crash, one individual became uncooperative and was detained by officers for the safety of everyone on scene.

The male driver, who was being evaluated by Medina EMS, is believed to have been the cause of the collision.

He was transported to a medical facility for further evaluation.

Initial findings indicate that a black sedan rear-ended an SUV stopped at a red light on East Center Street.

The impact caused the SUV to be pushed into a vehicle traveling north on Main Street.

The black sedan continued westbound, jumping a curb near Bent’s Opera House and colliding with a parked car, pushing it into a state route sign.

No major injuries were reported.

The Medina Police Department, assisted by Orleans County Sheriff’s Deputies and the New York State Police, secured the scene and collected information from drivers, passengers and witnesses.

The intersection was partially closed to traffic for a brief period while first responders managed the scene.

Two vehicles were towed from the scene.

The driver of the black sedan was charged with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

He was also issued multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law citations, including operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and reckless driving.
