FANWOOD, NJ — A motor vehicle crash at Forest Road Park on Nov. 4 left one person dead and multiple others injured.
Fanwood Police were dispatched to the park at approximately 10 a.m. for a reported collision.
Officers arriving at the scene found multiple victims and a utility pole that had been struck and knocked down.
Union County EMS, paramedics and the Fanwood Fire Department responded to provide emergency medical assistance.
Multiple patients were transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Newark, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and Overlook Hospital in Summit for treatment.
Ralph Benedict died from his injuries at University Hospital.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fanwood Police Department with assistance from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the Union County Police Department.
