TEANECK, NJ — A Brooklyn man has been charged with making a false 911 call that prompted a heightened police response in August.

Daniel Sayani, 35, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested following an investigation by the Teaneck Police Department.

On Aug. 30, Teaneck Police received a 911 call reporting a domestic violence incident at a residence.

The caller, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that one of the residents possessed firearms and was “heavily armed.”

Multiple officers responded to the address and determined that no domestic violence incident had occurred.

The 911 recording was saved, and the system’s location GPS indicated the caller was in the vicinity when the call was made.

A check of the phone number showed it was registered to Sayani.

Detectives called the number back, and the individual who answered did not want to talk, but his voice appeared to match the recorded voice from the 911 call.

Subscriber information from the telecommunications provider confirmed the number belonged to Sayani.

The victims reported that Sayani was a former business associate whom they had not spoken to in years due to past problems.

Sayani was charged with false public alarm, providing false information, false 911 call and harassment.

On Oct. 28, Sayani surrendered himself to the Bergen County Corrections and Rehabilitation Center and was processed and released a short time later.
