Man arrested on stolen vehicle charge in New Jersey

FORT LEE, NJ — A New York man was arrested early Tuesday in connection with operating a stolen motor vehicle and hindering his apprehension.

Oshane McClean, 32, of New York, was taken into custody following a motor vehicle stop on Route 46, according to Police Chief George Beck.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., Officers Corey Havens and Vincent Juliano responded to 41 W. Harriet Avenue for a reported dispute related to a possible shoplifting incident.

Upon arrival, the alleged actor had already fled the scene in a black 2016 BMW X5.

Officer Juliano broadcast the vehicle’s registration information to surrounding patrols.

Officer Salvatore Farnese observed the suspect vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 46 and conducted a motor vehicle stop prior to the George Washington Bridge.

Investigation revealed that the BMW had been reported stolen out of Jersey City.

The driver initially provided a false name to Officer Farnese but was later positively identified as McClean.

McClean was charged with receiving stolen property and hindering apprehension/providing false information.

He was processed and lodged in the Bergen County Corrections and Rehabilitation Center.
