2 arrested after loud party in Methuen

METHUEN, MA — Two people were arrested early Saturday morning after a loud house party on Bicknell Avenue escalated into a confrontation with police.

Methuen Police officers were dispatched to the residence at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Nov. 1.

Upon arrival, officers observed vehicles parked on the street and loud music playing.

Officers asked partygoers to leave peacefully and quietly, but most refused to leave.

The homeowner was issued a citation.

After repeated requests to disperse, partygoers began flooding the street.

A group of individuals ran up Curtis Street in an apparent attempt to start a fight.

Officers attempted to intervene to prevent the altercation.

While officers were trying to stop the group, a 17-year-old female juvenile placed her hands on an officer to stop him from intervening.

The juvenile was placed under arrest.

Officers from Massachusetts State Police, Salem, New Hampshire Police, and Lawrence Police arrived on scene to assist with clearing the party.

Richard Ariel Pena, 23, of Lawrence, was asked to leave peacefully multiple times but refused and began to approach officers.

Pena was placed under arrest.

The remaining partygoers then left the area.

The 17-year-old female was charged with disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Pena was charged with disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct.
