JAMESTOWN, NY — A 40-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning following a domestic violence incident that occurred the previous evening.

Jason A. Swartz, of Jamestown, was taken into custody at approximately 3:46 a.m. Saturday when officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon responded to a Southside address for a follow-up investigation.

The incident stems from a domestic dispute that took place at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

A female victim came to the Jamestown Police Department reception area Friday evening with significant bruises around her neck, according to police.

Police determined Swartz was involved in a physical domestic altercation with the victim.

The defendant allegedly held down and choked the victim in front of a 6-year-old child, police said.

Swartz was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.

He is charged with strangulation in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

Swartz is being held pending arraignment.
