HEMPSTEAD, NY — A 19-year-old woman died early Sunday morning after her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the Southern State Parkway.
State Police responded to the fatal motor vehicle collision at approximately 5:37 a.m. on the westbound lanes near exit 22N for the Meadowbrook State Parkway in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County.
Mia-Renee S. Edwards, 19, of Hempstead, was operating a 2002 gray Toyota Camry when she veered from her lane and lost control, according to police.
The vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.
Edwards was transported to Nassau University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
