Man arrested on child sexual abuse material charges in South Bound Brook

SOUTH BOUND BROOK, NJ — Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and South Bound Brook Chief of Police Douglas LaGrua announced the arrest of Luis Stylianakis, 24, of South Bound Brook, for possession of child sexual abuse material.

Prosecutor McDonald stated in September, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit was notified by members of the Huntley Police Department in Illinois of an investigation that began in April 2024, involving a 14-year-old female communicating and exchanging explicit photographs via a social media platform with an individual believed to reside in South Bound Brook.

Upon receiving this information, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit conducted further investigation which led to the identification of Stylianakis as the individual communicating with the minor via a social media platform and possessing child sexual abuse materials.

Prosecutor McDonald stated on Tuesday, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, along with members of the South Bound Brook Police Department, responded to Stylianakis’ residence where he was located and taken into custody without incident.

Detectives seized Stylianakis’ electronic devices pending further forensic analysis and Stylianakis was transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office for processing.

Stylianakis was charged with third-degree possession of child sexual abuse materials, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree distribution of obscene materials to a minor.

Stylianakis was lodged at the Somerset County Jail and was later released from custody after making an appearance in Superior Court.
