JAMESTOWN, NY — A 23-year-old man was arrested following a domestic incident on the south side of the city.
Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Second Platoon responded to a residence at approximately 3:47 p.m. on Oct. 24.
An investigation determined that Michael R. Shafer, of Jamestown, had prevented a victim from leaving the residence by physically restraining them.
During the confrontation, Shafer broke the victim’s glasses and applied pressure to their neck, according to police.
Shafer was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
He is charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
Shafer is being held at the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.
